Mug & Mallet

Mug & Mallet is the only crab house on the boardwalk proper. It has set paper-covered tables at 2nd Street since 1976, a few steps from the Plim Plaza. The order is steamed blues by the tray or all-you-can-eat. Steamed shrimp, clams and oysters back the crabs. A beach-food menu of burgers and chicken tenders covers whoever refuses to work for dinner. A vegan line runs crabless cakes and plant-based fish and chips. Multiple reviewers mention the vegan options. Doors open at 11 a.m. daily in season and run to 10 p.m. The room is plain. The location is the draw.
