About this site

This site keeps one record: who has heavy steamed blue crabs and what a dozen costs today. We cover every town from Virginia Beach to Lewes.

How we work

We read the public record. Thousands of Google and Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews. Local news. The crab houses' own menus and posts. Then we report the consensus and the complaints. We never claim to have eaten anywhere. We never invent a quote or a price.

The price board

Every few days an automated line calls the crab houses. It names itself. It says it's automated and transcribed. It asks what sizes are running and what they cost. Any house can say stop calling once and comes off the list for good. Between calls we read the posted boards. Every number on the board carries its date and source.

Ratings and reader reports

Sign in with just your email and rate a crab house. One rating per house per day. We show the average and the count. We don't massage either.

Photos

Independence

No crab house pays to appear. No ranking is for sale. A few labeled ads keep the lights on. Research and drafting are AI-assisted. The rules are enforced on every word and a human owns them.
